Book Reviews with a new Brew every time.

Disclaimer: I try not to give away too many spoilers or specifics, but overall this is a summary of the book and what I liked most about it. Some details are included.

This book is best when read in order with the series, however, it can definitely be read as a standalone book.

Viper and Marlowe were best friends growing up and understood each other in a way no one else did. After Marlowe gets her heart broken, Viper promises her that if they are both single by thirty, they will marry each other and she’ll never be alone. Viper is her best friend, protector and confidant, so of course she agrees to the pact.

Marlowe moved away for college and lost touch with Viper. When she moves back 10 years later, Viper isn’t going to let her get away again. Even though Viper doesn’t think he’s good enough for Marlowe, he immediately started pursuing her, which I loved. There was no mistaking his interest and adoration for her.

I liked Marlowe opening up to Viper as to why she moved back and thought she was brave to put herself and her heart out there as quickly as she did. Although, I also feel like Viper showing his interest in her, helped her feel safe enough to open up in the first place.

They have a really cute spicy moment when they come together for the first time. I liked the aspect of them being so comfortable with each other to have fun banter even though this was their first time being intimate. This is my favorite part in a friends to lovers trope when the couple have fun with each other as their relationship grows.

Potential trigger warning, there is a scene with some physical violence that might be difficult for some.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the series as a whole. I will post another book from the series each month, but do recommend starting from the beginning with January is for Jackson in the Mountain Men of Mustang Mountain series to get the full experience of the characters building off of each other and the full story line that continues throughout series.

Favorite Quote: “Because we belong together. You’re my other half, Lo. I let you walk away once, but now you’re mine and I’m never going to let you go.” – Viper

BREW: I tried Starbuck’s Pecan Crunch Oatmilk latte for the first time a few weeks ago and was instantly hooked! Knowing this was a seasonal item, I knew I wanted to try and find a way to make it myself. I found a great copycat recipe online by Megan Byrd that was only 4 ingredients and easy to make. I did substitute espresso for freshly brewed coffee and used the sugar free maple bourbon pecan syrup from Jordan’s Skinny Mixes brand. It was still delicious and now I can enjoy during any season! Recipe can be found HERE. The sugar free syrup I used is HERE. Hope you like it!
